STACEY WILSON.
Philadelphia has always been known for it’s epic murals that grace it’s neighborhoods. Faces of all colors, imagery of all kinds, bringing life to the brick canvas upon which they were created. Philadelphia has always been known for it’s influence on music, birthing all types of poets… from The Fresh Prince himself to Freeway, The Roots, and Jill Scott (to only mention a few). Music and art have built the foundation for Philly’s eclectic style. After spending 6 years in Philadelphia, I stumbled across one artist that I believe to have also influenced that style. Wishing I had come across her work sooner, Stacey “Flygirrl” Wilson is Philly’s best triple threat.

The Art of War. Hye-Jung Lee Photography.

Hye- Jung Lee, a South Korean native gives us a dope and eerie narrative in this series. Intricately combining human and artificial images within what appears to be a fairy tale. Each image in Lee’s narrative is accompanied by a tactical phrase from Sun Tzu’s “The Art of War”, setting a harsh contrast to each piece. Lee brings her doll to life with enormous blue eyes and perfect features, placing her in awesomely creepy scenarios characterizing a very different type of battlefield. Check it out!
Anger may in time change to gladness; vexation may be succeeded by content.
