Dude, I don’t know about this. After watching the fantastic VMA performance, I was expecting something more refined, provocative, minimal. I understand what he did with the video, but I don’t feel it relays to the message of the song. I’m not saying spoon feed us, I love when an artist allows us to think freely and interpret the meaning of the song for ourselves, but I feel like there should have been some type of connection to the VMA performance. He had the Plato’s Allegory of the cave theme going. It was moving and it connected with the song. The heartless tin man implication with his heart beating on and off, and the element of the tribal drums would still be there, as it was in the performance.

I had a concept for the video, tell me what you think. The video opens up with Kanye wearing the same attire from the VMA performance, his heart is beating as he’s walking down a sidewalk (the scene is saturated, eliminating most of the color hues) everything around him is beating on and off in conjunction with his heart, (the red, stop sign, the red lipstick on the women that are passing by, the red head lights on the cars etc) we then get a POV shot of him targeting different women (we learn he’s a cyborg, terminator-like). When “system overload” is said we see static fill the target screen.

Then it would cross cut to him in a black room (utilizing neon painting he would be drowned in black with white clothing being the only thing visible. As he’s singing the lyrics. We then cut to a side shot CU of his face and then jump cut back and forth to different angles of his face. He’s rocking the signature (white) Yeezy glasses as well…

When the drums kick in we see the tribal drummers emerge from the black background (playing on theme from the performance) when the drums fade, they recede into the shadows again.

Then it cuts back to Cyborg Yeezy locking in on a specific woman, who at this point is getting inside her car.

I’m not going to get to the point here… when the song builds to the climax, Cyborg Yeezy is about to approach the woman when suddenly a man comes out of the vehicle and kisses her on the lips. When the drums peak, Yeezy begins to self destruct. His bolts come loosen and the contents from his frame are revealed, pieces of beat pads, piano keys come bursting out, the scene turns into vibrant color.

We cut back to the all black room where Yeezy is jamming to the Tribal drums and we reveal a woman (inside of a green watered lava lamp) she’s dancing in accordance to the drum beat and he places his hand over the glass, staring at her. The woman would be covered in body paint (like the one’s in his video).

The final frame (closing moments, where the heart is still beating) we have a crane shot looming into a self destructed Yeezy cyborg laying on the pedestrian sidewalk.

    Fade to Black

What do you think? Lol, I know this neither here nor there, but I thought you’d appreciate me sharing this.
